OBEDIENCE OUR DUTY

Resurrection and Life (John 11:25)

Welcome to the House of Prayer, the Spirit Life Centre for All Nations. The Lord’s House is called the House of Prayer, not the house of gossip, not the house of competition, but the House of Prayer. Please let us be very careful not to turn the Lord’s House of Prayer into a house of gossip or competition. Otherwise, we will never be able to receive what the Lord’s House of Prayer has in store for us (Ecclesiastes 5:1). Those who obey the Lord’s instruction seek two qualities: righteousness and humility. So this morning, if you follow Jesus in righteousness and humility, what seems impossible will become possible for you!

As a Christian, the only way to feel good about yourself is to begin to believe and accept what Jesus has done for you. He died for you, rose from the dead for you, He reigns in power for you, and still prays for you. Remember, Jesus entered the earth as a man and lived His life without sin. sin is disobedience to Jehovah God’s Word written for us in the Holy Bible. It is not pleasing to Jehovah God to be disobeyed by those He created for Himself and for His glory. Going by what happened in Genesis 3:12-13. In the Garden of Eden, we understand that the cost of disobedience is greater than the cost of obedience. It would have cost Adam and Eve anything to obey Jehovah God’s instruction, but it cost them everything to disobey Him. I have good news for you. Jesus came to restore the fellowship and communion which sin has broken. Jehovah God has written us into an unprecedented revolutionary story of reconciliation in which hostilities are destroyed and enemies become friends. A generation of vipers shall become a seed of saints. The Holy Bible is the Chronicle of Jehovah God’s love for His people. From darkness before Eden to eternity with Him in Heaven, the entrance to the Kingdom of God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit is not difficult to find; it is right in front of you – in the Word of God. The Holy Bible says, “Whoever calls on the Name of the Lord shall be saved.” Are you on the right road? That is the question. 

The way has been made plain: In John 14:6, Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.” Jehovah God does not necessarily reward good, smart, or intelligent people, but He rewards the obedient. Knowledge is not the key; obedience is. Matthew 21:1-3 – What made the donkey particular? The donkey was not owned by anyone but Jehovah God. What manner of instruction can we call this? It was an instruction in boldness, confidence, certainty, and righteousness. There is nothing Jehovah God created that He cannot change. He is the Commander and the Instructor. Ask the Roman Centurion and he will tell you that no Word of Jehovah God is void of fulfilment. Almighty God does nothing without His Word. His Word is wisdom itself. In Matthew 8:8-9. The Centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have You come under my roof. But just say the word, and my savant will be healed. I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes; I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” He knew that Jehovah God is the Commander, the Controller, and the Instructor. Divine faith is a force that has Jehovah God’s power and authority behind it; it sets in motion divine forces for its fulfillment. Jehovah God’s power and authority are incontestable.

Jehovah God’s Word is the answer to all fundamental issues of life. Jehovah God always instructs us to do something we cannot do ourselves so that He can teach us how to do it. It is Jehovah God’s Word that teaches the believer how to please God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Only faith pleases Jehovah God. Faith demands the impossible, it sees the invisible, believes the impossible, and receives the incredible. If you must enjoy your miracle, blessing, and victory, you must be ready to be ruled, controlled, commanded, and instructed by the Holy Scriptures. Jesus Christ is the Head of the unseen community. So, faith in Christ is an acknowledgment that there is a superior realm that controls both worlds. The great God of the universe – the Infinite, creative Intelligence – is in control in our midst, governing, upholding, and pervading all things. To His power, nothing is impossible. So your situation does not embarrass Jesus because He has the solution. So, be positive in your actions and utterances. Don’t allow your situation to dictate your direction; rather, allow Jehovah God’s Word to channel your way. If you follow Jehovah God’s instruction to channel your way, nothing out of His control can happen to you. There is safety and security in Jehovah God’s presence. To know His Presence is to know His Power. The clearer sight we have of the Power of Heaven and the Sovereignty (supremacy) of Jehovah God, the less we shall fear the cares and calamities of the world around us. We know Jehovah God by the word He speaks, for the word He speaks represents His heart’s desire.

Jehovah God first instructed Abraham to leave his father’s house to venture into faith life. The Holy Bible says he stepped out in faith, believing the promise of Jehovah God, and walked steadfastly in the direction of God’s calling for his life. If you step out in the direction of Jehovah God’s holy calling for your life, you will surprise yourself. IN Genesis 22:2-3, when Jehovah God instructed Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac, Abraham did not think it strange nor doubted his God; he simply said, “Here I am! Your Will is my command.” The command by Jehovah God seemed to be an obvious conflict with His promise to Abraham. If Abraham were to react like the people of our day, he would have disobeyed God’s instruction and even written God off as one who was insensitive to his plight. But being a great man of faith, he obeyed the instruction, knowing that it was his duty to obey Jehovah God’s command. Jehovah God’s duty is to keep His promises. Abraham obeyed Jehovah God, and His promises were kept. Ask Abraham, and he would tell you that the way of obedience is the way of blessing. The way of obedience is the way of favour with Jehovah God and men (Luke 2:49-52).

Peter was in serious need; he was facing hardship in his career. While Peter was busy struggling to fend for his family, Jesus met him at the seaside and gave him an instruction in righteousness, “Lay down your net for a catch.” It was an instruction in certainty. As a free moral agent, Peter had the right to say, “Thank You – I am not interested,” but he simply yielded to Jesus’ instruction. Peter simply answered; ‘… if you say so, I will let down the net’ (Luke 5:5). In other words, he was saying to Jesus, “You are the Lord of the waves, the Author and Finisher of my faith; who am I to disobey Your instruction. I know that if I labour by your command, your instruction, I am sure I cannot labour in vain anymore. So, I will let down the net”. Immediately, the dark moment of Peter’s fishing days was redeemed to good success.

What lessons can we learn from these biblical characters? Believing demands action, creates action, YOU MUST ACT ON IT TO SHOW THAT YOU TRULY BELIEVE IT. When you take action in obedience to God, you will prosper. The way of obedience is the way of success and blessing. In Christ Jesus, we have perfect evidence for faith. Faith is our movement toward Him. When you get into His presence, you will change! Your thinking will change! Your attitude will change! A change from sickness to good health, from failure to success, from hopelessness to happiness, and from frustration to fulfilment. 

May this message help you understand that attracting Jehovah God’s attention so that His Mighty Power can come on the scene in your heart and life affairs is done through obedience. There’s no other way that we can see Jehovah God’s Mighty Power come on the scene instantly in our heart and life without being OBEDIENT to all scriptures, not some but all His instructions which are written for us in the Holy Bible; that is it. Can’t you hear the Father’s words to Joshua after Moses, His servant died…”Moses, my servant, is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan…This Book of instruction shall not leave from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night that you may see to it that you do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” Please take note, children of Father up in Heaven, that the prosperity and good success you so desire to have is waiting for you at your duty of obedience to all scriptures, not some but all.

Permit me to leave you doing your duty of obedience to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and I pray to meet you on duty in Jesus’ Name.

Lord Jesus Christ, please help me to live life the same way You lived it when You were down here on earth. So that when my days on earth are over, I can come to where You are and live with You forever.
