TODAY’S PASSPORT-FOR TOMORROW’S JOURNEY
Resurrection and Life (John 11:25)
We welcome you to the Spirit Life Centre for All Nations, the place where the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit work mightily in the heart and life of those who believe in the Holy Trinity. Jehovah God wants to work His work of healing, deliverance, salvation, and all of His blessings in your heart and life, but this can only happen if you allow him through your belief in Him and in His Holy Son Jesus Christ. Your belief gives Almighty God the chance and opportunity to work for you and in you according to His Will and promise for your heart and life. ONLY BELIEVE.
Jehovah God has kept you until now for a purpose known to Him alone. That is why you’re alive today, evidence that you will achieve your goal and your dream will come true. However, you have a role to play. The Holy Bible says that when you seek anything for the salvation of your soul, whatever you receive will come with the peace of God that will give you fulfilment in Christ Jesus. When you are fulfilled in Christ Jesus, you lack nothing and want nothing. When you know that beyond your present situation is joy, you will have the strength to stand. It is only upon Jehovah God’s strength that we can go forth, marching towards the throne and go on, fulfilling our destiny, for all our sufficiency is of God. Our failure to seek anything for the purpose of salvation, to give Christ His proper place in our hearts, is actually responsible for the crisis of our faith. We want to be successful; we want to move forward. We do many things to achieve our goals, but at the end of the day, we are still in the same spot. Something is restricting us. We are hindered and handicapped from fulfilling our full potential. Many of us are not free; many of us are victims of self-imprisonment.
If our hearts are restless and uneasy, if we are afraid of this and that, if we are fearful and feeling lost, struggling with all our efforts to scheme, plan, resolve, and plead, then this shows that we have not yet believed. Such a heart cannot make the right decision. When a person believes, he will no longer worry or be busy planning; he will no longer query Jehovah God about yesterday. Faith brings restfulness because of the knowledge that God is for us. Faith reminds me that my sins are forgiven. Faith reminds me that the victory is as sure as the rising of the sun. Faith tells me that though I might have what I want, I might be where I want to be in life, most definitely, I am not what I used to be. Therefore, I don’t have to be worried about or haunted by the past. I just need to forgive, I need to release someone I held hostage by unforgiveness. Faith looks ahead from the present and tells me Jesus is coming – I don’t have to be upset or uptight about the future. Faith says: forget about the past, live to use today’s supplies, and let tomorrow be. Just as an international passport is a necessary condition for a visa to any foreign country, so is faith in our journey.
Today is a decision; tomorrow is the result (Psalm 37:25). What is your state of mind? Many fearful and worried minds make decisions about tomorrow, believing that God is with them, whereas they are living outside the truth, where their light is coming from. When you exclude Jehovah God today in your plan, whatever you do today, you are certainly not prepared for tomorrow. We always plan for selfish reasons – what can bring value to our flesh, what can satisfy our senses, but never what can benefit our spiritual nature, what can increase our faith. How many of us are really conscious of destiny? How many are planning on who to give to, how to bless, and what help to render tomorrow? Faith is a lifestyle of trusting in God for what’s next. It is better to suffer today and enjoy tomorrow rather than trying to enjoy today and face the consequences tomorrow. As a Christian, obeying Jehovah God at first may be difficult until we come to realize that what He asks us to do now is for our good and it is to make tomorrow’s life full and free. We need to see our situation as a builder of faith. God arranges events that continue to unfold until His Will is revealed and His plan for you prospers. It is the divine opportunity of today that leads us to the mystery of tomorrow. Today is the center of yesterday and tomorrow.
Your way of life yesterday, whether you would continue it or not, is the decision today. I mean, today is the decision whether or not you will continue your yesterday’s way of life from yesterday. Whatever happens, tomorrow is the result of your decision made today. Faith is in the present tense (2 Corinthians 6:2). He who neglects the present for the future is acting opposite to the order of God, sound knowledge, and sound wisdom. He who neglects the present for the past is crucifying Christ once more because He died to remove our past and give birth to our future. It is this issue of self-imprisonment that creates doubt in us, doubting God, doubting His power, and doubting His goodness. You don’t know what is next; there is no vision, no revelation, because you are imprisoned. Your state of mind does not allow you to see what is next, but you can adjust yourself by releasing yourself. We do not know what will happen next, but what we do know is that what we do now matters. In order for us to function properly, we should stop repeating stories of those who failed us in the past.
Stop keeping offence. When you are concentrating on the wrong done to you, on the wounds and hurts which offences have caused, you tend to forget the condition in which you are, which Jesus wants to attend to. He demands your faith to bless you. If you cannot forget yesterday, you cannot have today. The old in you cannot give birth to the new. Each day has enough of its own. If you learn not to feed on offense or filter through offense, you will know that those who created yesterday’s pain cannot control tomorrow’s potential. It is what we do today that becomes history hereafter and prepares us for the mystery of the next day. We do not have any control over what becomes of us the next day, but you have a role to play in the unfolding of His purpose. The thing that keeps us from worries and anxiety is not what we see but what we believe. The opening of the eyes of our faith is the silencing of our worries. When you believe, you will appreciate and recognize the unseen hand of God that controls the affairs of men. You will see beyond your immediate circumstance.
In Genesis 22:1-2, in the mind of Abraham, the command of God was an obvious conflict with His promise. If Abraham were to react like the people of our day, the unbelieving generation, what would have happened? He would have disobeyed Jehovah God’s instruction and even written God off as one who was insensitive to his plight. But Abraham freed himself from every weight this instruction could bring. He did not allow the enemy of his soul to overtake him by asking himself questions that may have led him to sin against God, but he relied on the strength that comes from God. The biggest decision in life is what you do with the instruction of Jesus Christ now. Worrying is out of fear, out of doubt, which is opposite to faith. Real faith believes now and acts now, in the present. Faith believes that each day has its own destiny.
Make a heart decision in the present in order to benefit from the grace you need for tomorrow. That heart decision is to trust Jehovah God by putting your past behind you by the power of the Cross, look forward to the future through the promise of Heaven, and to truly live as it should be in the present, as it should be by faith. For those whose lives are centered on Christ Jesus, the best is always yet to come.
Jehovah God bless His own Word in your heart and life. Turn to Jesus Christ in your heart by welcoming His precious Word in the midst of your heart and submit to His dominion. Thank you very much for coming out to join us in today’s Devotional Service. Remain blessed in the Blessing of Christ our Savior.
