THE OVERCOMING SPIRIT LIVES IN US

Resurrection and Life (John 11:25)

Welcome to the very working place of the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit, and the Hosts of Heaven, the Spirit Life Centre for All Nations. To be in the house of Jehovah God is to be in the Will of Jehovah God, where the Lord commands His blessing, healing, deliverance, salvation, and all His goodness, mercy, favor, and grace. So, time in the house of Jehovah God is time with God’s possibilities for a better and good life. Don’t ever miss being in the home of the Lord whenever the opportunity presents itself (Psalm 92:13-15).

There is only one message that gives me joy and assurance of salvation—that is the glorious message of the Gospel, which says that God Almighty has provided salvation for everyone who genuinely accepts His Son, Jesus Christ, as Lord and Savior. There is great joy within! Because to know Jesus Christ brings great joy, the kind of joy that nothing can destroy. For this salvation to become a reality in your life, you must believe it and confess it without fear, doubt, and unbelief in your heart because our conscience is the communication point, contact point for the Holy Spirit as well as satan.

Remember, millions have surrendered to their fears while their hearts dream of a miracle. Do not let this happen to you today. I want you to know that satan does not come to you physically to say, “hand over your sword”! No! he comes through fear, doubt, and unbelief in your heart. What Jehovah God requires of us is planted in our hearts. It does not consist of the fat of rams, burnt offerings, or costly sacrifices. It is not in the waving of hands in worship without a thorough reformation of heart and life. It is not in sacrifices without a pure heart. One thing is clear: when we are converted, we have the very presence of the Father and the Son in our hearts through the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the overcoming Spirit that lives in us today.

Galatians 4:4-7. This text clearly indicates that when the Holy Spirit takes up residence within us, He does so with the aim of aiding us in developing a holy character. That is, the Holy Spirit acts on the soul to produce the virtues of Christian character. He, the Spirit Truth, is the overcoming Spirit that lives in us today. The overcoming Spirit enters our personality, and we become a new person with a renewed mind, affection, desire, and will. He is not known to everyone. He only comes to those who are prepared for Him. Are you prepared for Him? It is unfortunate that today, many believe that they are qualified to have the overcoming Spirit in them because they are born into Christian homes, speak in tongues, fast and pray very well, are too smart, or bear Christian names and titles. They observe these outward forms of religion without a thorough reformation of heart and life. I mean, they mind the outward forms of religion but reject its real power. We must mind the power rather than the form.

Children of Father up in Heaven, no matter your family background, no matter how punctual you are to the church, no matter the position you hold in the church, no matter how smart you think you are, you cannot condition the overcoming Spirit. I mean, you cannot instruct Him the way He should go in your prayers or dictate to Him. The overcoming Spirit we are talking about is a free agent – working, walking, looking, hearing, and talking freely. I mean, the Spirit of Christ goes where He is desired, not where He is merely needed for a moment or for certain selfish reasons. Remember, God Almighty not only requires the inward part in our worship but truth in the inward part. We must devote our own spirit to and employ them in the service of Jehovah God. The Holy Bible says that it is God’s Word coming out of our lips that produces an overcoming Spirit in us. To confirm this, turn with me to the book of 1 Samuel 17:45-47. Here, it was the Word of God that came from the mouth of David that produced an overcoming Spirit within Him. I mean, David spoke the Word of faith, and the giant fell. In view of Goliath’s great size, strength, and bravery, it would be easily understood why the Israelite army maintained a defeatist posture in the face of his threats.

In spite of all this, David refused to accept defeat. Naturally, Goliath stood a better chance of victory considering his credentials, size, weaponry, and experience. But supernaturally, David was superior because he was on the Lord’s side. Jehovah God was supporting his position. He would not see the fight as a personal challenge but one against God Almighty. Are you a real Christian? Is the overcoming Spirit living in you? If yes, then naturally, your enemies, your adversaries may stand a better chance of victory considering the instruments at their disposal – instruments of propaganda, blackmail, campaign of calumny, slanderous remarks, insults, hatred, unfaithfulness, etc., but supernaturally, you are superior because you are on the Lord’s side. Jehovah God is supporting your position. You should not see the battle as a personal challenge but as one against God Almighty.

1 Samuel 17:37-38, Saul saw the apparent superiority of Goliath over David, and so he wanted to assist David with physical armor and weapons. Saul could only see in the young, tactless, and inexperienced shepherd boy who knew nothing about warfare. But David was not familiar with human armor and tactics. Certainly, David had tried Jehovah God’s armor and found Him very reliable, dependable, incontestable, trustworthy, genuine, and real. You cannot defeat your opponent with a weapon you have not tried. David’s first victory was in choosing the right weapon – Jehovah God’s armor. We, Christians, are not used to human armor and tactics. We are not used to intimidation, propaganda, campaign of calumny, blackmail, slanderous remarks, insults, name-calling, etc. We have tried God’s armor and found Him very reliable, dependable, incontestable, trustworthy, genuine, and real. As a genuine Christian, when your adversary attacks with hatred, hold on to love, for love becomes your protection against the hatred of the adversary. When your adversary attacks with unfaithfulness, hold on to faithfulness, for faithfulness becomes your protection against the unfaithfulness of the adversary. When your adversary attacks with pride, hold on to humility, for humility becomes your protection against the pride of the adversary.

In verse 37, we can see that it was not David’s victory over Goliath that propelled him into public notice, but his bold confession in the face of an obvious threat to his life. He overcame by the testimony of his mouth. Remember, the Holy Spirit gives the Word of Jehovah God as a special weapon. He provides it, He supplies it, and He gives expression. David gave testimonies of the more difficult and trying situations Jehovah God had taken him through in the past. Confession and testimony are articles of faith, and David used both. Therefore, as a real Christian, whenever you are facing a difficult situation in which it seems there is no hope and no future, you should learn to use the weapon of testimony and confession of what the Lord has done in the past and what He can do in the circumstance. It is when you are between a rock and a hard place that you receive the Lord’s presence most clearly. The Holy Bible says if you genuinely accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you should also have absolute confidence in His ability to save, bless, rescue, or deliver you. From this confidence comes patience, endurance, perseverance, and forbearance in any unpleasant situation.
