MAKE IT HAPPEN

Resurrection and Life (John 11:25)

We welcome you to the very working place of the Spirit of the Father and Son. Begin to welcome Him in a big way in your own heart and life this morning. ‘O Holy Spirit, Spirit of Truth, introduce Jesus to me. Holy Spirit, do the introduction. O Holy Spirit, Spirit of Truth, reveal Jesus to me. Help me know Him here just as He is known up in Heaven.’

When Jesus called Levi to follow Him in Mark 2:14, Levi immediately left his occupation as a tax collector and followed Jesus and became Matthew, the great Apostle. When you fail your God-given assignment, you are not only failing Jehovah God, you are also failing the generations yet unborn. When Jesus asked the rich man in Matthew 19:21-22 to sell his properties and give the money to the poor and to come and follow Him, the rich man turned back and changed the course of his destiny. Destiny can be changed if you don’t know where you are destined to go and the person chosen by Jehovah God to lead you to that destiny. Thousands will fail in life because they are unwilling to make a change. Ruth 1:16-18 – Let’s look at the case of Ruth.

Jehovah God never looks at your past to determine your future. As we struggle to overcome our past, we are making history and fulfilling our destiny. When her husband and two sons died in the land of Moab, Naomi decided to return to Israel; she told the wives of her late sons, Ruth and Orpah, to go back to their families and rebuild a new home for themselves. Orpah yielded to the advice and turned back from Naomi forever, and changed the history of her life. Ruth knew that being a Moabite, she would face impossibilities in Israel, but she did not give up. The Law of Moses says in Deuteronomy 23:3, 6, “No Ammonite or Moabite or any of his descendants may enter the assembly of the LORD, even down to the tenth generation. Do not seek a treaty with them as long as you live”. That statement alone was enough to discourage Ruth from following Naomi. She was a foreigner to the Commonwealth of Israel. But she had a sense of destiny; she had quick perception; she looked beyond her situation and saw her redemption. Despite all the odds against her, she made a heart decision to follow Naomi.

She was determined (Ruth 1:18). With this kind of determination, nothing can break your dream. She didn’t let anything contrary to her heart’s desire cross her mind! ‘I am here to follow you; you will point me to my future successes. Jehovah God’s kind of success has no biological attachment. Her people could not give her the future she desired, so she had to check out. She resolved to stop looking at where she was coming from and began to look at where she was going because she had a sense of destiny. She walked in the direction of Jehovah God’s calling for her life by following Naomi, and the history of her life was rewritten. In Matthew 1:5, she left a lasting legacy; her son was Obed, the father of Jesse, who gave birth to King David. Let’s look at the case of the Canaanite woman in Matthew 15:21-28. Our vision takes us to where we have never been. Our vision makes us do what seems impossible. She knew that faith does not ask for possible things; it demands the impossible; she used her faith to put a demand, her petition was, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Remember, her daughter needed deliverance from the demon that tormented her. At first, she was ignored. The Bible says, Jesus did not answer her a word. Jesus’ initial silence did not discourage her. The disciple’s efforts to get rid of her did not stop her. Jesus’ first answer to her was, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel! – Jesus’ statement of purpose that He was a Jewish Messiah did not discourage her. Any other person would have been discouraged by the racial differences/discrimination between Jews and Gentiles. Her faith was not silenced by whatever statement she heard.

When she was equated to a dog, she did not give up. As a test of faith, Jesus deliberately insulted the Canaanite woman’s sensibilities to injure her pride. She chose the path of faith and humility and endured the insult, the embarrassment, because she had no alternative. She believed that Jesus was the only way and the only One who was able to heal, save, deliver, and give her everything she needed. She showed her faith as one who truly wanted to come to Jesus, and the Lord pointed her to her future success – MAKE IT HAPPEN.

Let’s look at the case of Elisha – 2 Kings 2:1-15. Before he was taken to Heaven, Elijah put his servant Elisha to the test. Three times Elijah asked his servant Elisha, “Stay behind, the Lord is sending me”; three times Elisha answered ‘As long as the Lord lives and your soul lives, I will not leave you. When Elijah saw Elisha’s determination, he asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” ‘A double portion of your spirit, ’ he answered. Elisha, as a man of perseverant faith, passed the test; he received Elijah’s prophetic mantle, and the anointing began to flow. What lessons can we learn from these biblical heroes of faith?

Successful people don’t just drift to the top; it takes focused action, personal discipline, total obedience to the Holy Scriptures, and lots of energy every day to make things happen. Life never closes the door to opportunities. You can choose to walk away from wrong opportunities or from good opportunities. In the world today, there are

three basic categories of people:

Those who make things happen.

Those who watch things happen.

Those who wonder what is happening.

And those who wonder what happened.

Those who make things happen are those who make a difference in their world. They have no time to compare themselves with others or measure themselves by themselves. Like Ruth, they aim to reach out to something higher, greater, new, and unique. Those who watch things happen are those who look to others for direction. They have no vision; they are without direction. They dance because they see others dancing, they travel because they see others travelling, they do business because they see others doing business, they get married because they see others getting married. Those who wonder what is happening are those who always postpone things. They don’t want to act faith now. They always say they are not ready, not now, maybe tomorrow. Those who wonder what happened are those who live out their lives unnoticed, uncelebrated, and in obscurity. They choose to sit on the fence and become indifferent.

You are called to make a difference in your life! Be a tomorrow thinker! Don’t look back! If you focus on your past, your present is in danger, and your future is tarnished. Those who have a sense of destiny never miss their divine appointment. Jesus had a sense of destiny. That is, He knew where people needed Him. If Jehovah God gives you a vision and it is opposed by men, do not reduce your vision – stay in the Will of your Maker God. It does not matter what men say about you; what matters is what you believe about yourself in Jehovah God’s divine plan for you. If you have a sense of destiny, you will never allow what others say about you to change your opinion about yourself. Don’t reduce your vision! You are destined to be great, to be blessed, to be saved, to be wealthy, to be rich – MAKE IT HAPPEN! How? Faith makes things happen. What you believe with your heart and confess with your mouth will become a visible reality in the natural world if you hold steadfastly to your confession of faith. That throne! That child! That breakthrough! That blessing! That deliverance! That position! That healing! That life Jehovah God has promised you is possible. By faith begin to look not at your sickness but at your healing; not at your limitations but at your breakthrough; not at your battle but at the promise of victory.

The evidence of Christ Jesus is lives changed. Jesus Christ can change anyone, anytime, anywhere, in any situation. The Miracle Worker is still alive, His Name is Jesus Christ! You see, child of Father: if you just remember that Jehovah God is not like us, who promise what we know we will never do or will never make happen. Think of it this way: you can never put your finger on a live open electrical wire or plug and expect not to burn, that is Jehovah God for you. When He promises something, it is because He knows that’s what He is going to do; just as touching a live electric wire or plug will set you on fire. ONLY BELIEVE!
